Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
