Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying changes resonate through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden sect.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Features
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Addition
This release also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Partnerships
This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
